3. Sarah Brooks was christened on 15 Jan 1743 in Brightwell, Berkshire, England.

Notes:

The only marriage date found for Jonathan Barrett is 1713 to Mary Wichelow at Brightwell. this would make Jonathan 48 at time of marriage and he would be 25 years older than Mary.
Not impossible but I question the accuracy of this, have I got the right couple?!

Had another look at the reliability of this connection.
Someone from Berks FHS facebook page had suggested to another party, that if there was a problem tracing relatives in Berks to try Wiltshire, a neighbouring county.

Have now looked at neighbouring counties and apart from Oxford, only the following 3 have Richard's in the time scale:
Cornwall. - Richard 1627 father John
Richard 1633 father John
Kent. ------Richard 1627 FATHER PAUL
Richard 1633 father John
Wiltshire.--Richard 1633 father John
Richard 1636 father John
Problem is none of these have a wife Elizabeth.
have to accept that many early records were badly kept, which could allow for the information we are unable to find.
That being said, the originally found Cuddesdon information is the most likely.

Christened:
If Richard and his sister had other siblings born in the 10 years before them, and after the marriage of their probable parents in 1607, then I can't find them.
There are possibilities in Kirtlington and Banbury but too obscure.

Richard married Elizabeth (Barrett). Elizabeth was born in 1630; was buried on 24 Jun 1673 in Sutton Courtney, Berkshire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

** Found John Barret born at Cuddesdon 1584 and a marriage in 1607.
NB In Baptism record his surname is spelt with 1 x t.
No record to be found with surname spelt as we are used to.
In marriage record a John Barret is married to Alice Cistel at Kirtlington 2 July 1607 but a John Barrett is married to Grace Flexneye on 18 Oct 1607

This would make him 32 at time of Susannah's birth and 36 at Richard's birth.

CAUSE FOR CONCERN that in this scenario, there is a 10 year gap before children arrive.
A wild search for children born or died to this couple from 1607 through to 1617 produced nothing.

The other strong possibility is that John, father of Richard, was born and married elsewhere and then moved to Cuddesdon. There are too many John Barrett's to make a distinction.

Unfortunately, the early baptism records do not record the mother's name. At least that might have given a clue.

Cannot find death/burial date

John was born at Cuddesdon, Oxford. No parent’s names were found on birth record.
Decided to do a wild search for marriages with just the surname Barrett.
Nothing was found in Oxfordshire or Berkshire.
Results found were:
1. Richarde Barrett to Alyce Symson 21 December 1584 London
2. Richard Barratt to Margaret Collson 21 Feb 1584 Southwark
3. Richard Barret to Martha Haidon 1583 London
4. Thomas Barrat to Ales Williams 6 Oct 1583 London
5. Henry Barratt to Alyce Williamson 8 Apr 1583 London
It could be any one of them or none of them. It is too ambiguous to try to research further.


Possibly found 2 brothers to John, a Wylliam and a Thomas but no parents names

I cannot find a birth record for a Grace Flexney.
I can find one for an Alicia and one for a Joanne in the approx time scale for a birth for John Barrett's wife.
Maybe Grace was a favoured second name?
