Generation: 1

  1. 1.  William Barrett was born in 1834 in Fyfield, Berkshire, England; died in Jan 1908 in Faringdon, Berkshire, England.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Census: 1841
    • Census: 1851, Warren Farm, Tubney, Berkshire, England
    • Occupation: 1851, Warren Farm, Tubney, Berkshire, England; Employed on Farm. This term is used rather than the more usual 'Agricultural Labourer' which was, however, applied to a servant that appeared on the same census. Was William Alder being kind, or was this really a different job?
    • Census: 3 Apr 1881, Gloucester Street, Faringdon, Berkshire, England
    • Occupation: 3 Apr 1881, Gloucester Street, Faringdon, Berkshire, England; Journeyman Carpenter

    Notes:

William Barrett Third child of John & Harriet. Born 1834. Baptised 20th November 1834.

Found on 1841 & 1851 censuses as living with Harriet’s parents, the Alders.

Found on 1881 census living in Faringdon with wife Mary who was born in Bedfordshire.
There were 2 marriage references for William married in Hungerford, one for 1878 to a Mary Everett but could NOT find a birth for her in Bedfordshire.
The other reference was for a marriage to a Maria Hart in 1876 and Maria WAS born in Bedfordshire. The names Maria and Mary are often mis-transcribed.

It would seem from looking through the censuses, that William and Maria/Mary never had any children. I didn't see the point of recording all the censuses.
