This is a summary of the research carried out by Sheila Wheatley with input from Paul Barrett into the history of Henry (aka Harry) Barrett b 1854 and Elizabeth Alder b 1850. Henry and Elizabeth were married 7 Nov 1874. We want to document Henry's ancestors to see if we share a common ancestor, and we would also like to reach out to other researchers of the Barretts and Alders of Berkshire / Oxfordshire, England for help resolving some issues. |

| Unpicking the complex ancestry of Henry Barrett c 7 Nov 1854
As we stepped back through the Barrett ancestors we hit a problem with Henry' because there were a few ambiguities in spousal relationships where it could have been possible for someone to have married either/or partners. And cousins were marrying too, so husband and wife had the same birth name,
Sheila has studied the Berkshire CDs and concluded that the most probable relationships are those shown on this chart, A significant factor in this conclusion is the parentage of the many children Sheila discovered, all of whom appear on the chart and have been added to the family tree |
| Notes |
- Richard born 1778 is found on the third row down on the right hand side of map.
The original research thought that he married a Sarah Marsh in Kent in 1805.
There is a typo, sorry folks, Sarah White(I1706) has her name there which is correct but she married Richard at St. Ebbe's Oxford which is approximately 8 miles east of Appleton.

- This is one of two possible Richard Barretts that could have married Sarah White but. after careful research by Sheila Wheatley, the balance of probability favours this one.
Further research shows only this Richard married Sarah White.
